Hire my husband! Computer repairs, software upgrades, troubleshooting

My husband Richard, a Security Cleared IT hardware engineer, is looking for work.


He has been employed on a variety of contract roles in general IT/server support, desktop support, rollouts, upgrades, EPOS and 1st/2nd/3rd line helpdesk positions since 2005. He has travelled widely, worked away from home and even gone abroad for contracts as needed.

He is ideally looking for a permanent position, commensurate with his level of experience, and will relocate if needed (I have to stay here for my job but that doesn't stop him from going where the work is).

He is:

  • A CompTIA A+ Certified Computer Technician
  • SC security cleared
  • Self motivated
  • Experienced thanks to continuous ‘hands-on’ experience of a variety of systems and hardware
  • Strong in all-round IT Support abilities, as he's worked with all sizes of multi-site private and public sector clients
  • Effective at developing solutions for business critical functions
  • Successful at solving complex and rare technical issues
  • Able to bring technical projects and associated paperwork to completion within tight schedules
  • An excellent team player or leader who can deal with fellow IT professionals or business users
  • Seeking a permanent or limited tenure IT Network, Helpdesk or Systems Support role
  • Also skilled in administration with several years’ experience of both general office systems and specialist IT-related paperwork.
The CompTIA qualification is a vendor neutral certification which covers numerous technologies and operating systems from vendors such as Microsoft, Apple, Novell and Linux.

He can undertake work in:

Hardware: Bespoke PC builds; Faultfinding issues; Exchange Server; Servers; Cisco switches/routers; Citrix environment.

Software: MS Office applications; Active Directory; Operating System installs; Desktop support; Web design – HTML, Dreamweaver; Antivirus; Lotus Notes; HEAT; Remedy; Symantec on desktop.

Other IT: ITIL best practice; Familiar with cyber-culture; MP3; IP; Browsers; SMS for remote working; EPOS, BIOS; Apple Mac; Lotus Notes; LANDesk asset management; Ubuntu/Debian Linux

Planned: MCSE accreditation (to formalise existing equivalent skills)

Undertaking: 
  • Home study course leading to CCNA accreditation
  • Home study on Vista training kit to improve knowledge

He has worked for various specialist employers, Cambridge University and a number of private sector companies in the course of the last few years.

He is available immediately for permanent or contract work, interviews and private clients' IT requirements.
